You've just got to look around the VeloVixen office to realise that women come in all shapes and sizes, and that size is not often a true reflection on athletic ability.  We're proud to be working with the team at Fat Lass At the Back to bring a range of flattering cycling clothing for women up to a UK size 26, including the Lasses Pedal Pushers.

As with the brand, plenty of thought has been put into these Lasses Pedal Pushers.  As well as a curve friendly cut, they feature a tummy-friendly high waist that provides all the comfort of bibs without the inconvenience at toilet stops.  It also means they stay up, keep your lower back warm and sit where they won't dig in - it’s simple stuff but it makes a big difference.

Adding to the comfort level is the high density foam chamois pad designed to keep you happy in the saddle and discrete branding at knee level, with the Fat Lass At the Back ‘Edwina’ logo.  To top it off, the Fat Lass at the Back Pedal Pushers are made from technical, high performance fabric, so they will keep you dry and sweat-free.  What more could a lass want?

*For best results, we recommend taking a look at the Size Guide section above before ordering.

Size Guide

Fat Lass At the Back has a unique sizing guide, so for best results we recommend following these instructions.

  Waist Hips UK size
Large 35" / 89cm 43" / 109cm 14-16
X-Large 37" / 94cm 46" / 117cm 16-18
XX-Large 39" / 99cm 49" / 124cm 18-20
XXX-Large 42" / 107cm 51" / 130cm 20-22
XXXX-Large 46" / 117cm 55" / 140cm 24-26

Waist ~ measure your natural waist at its largest point.  Usually about 1 or 2 inches below the belly button.

Hips ~ measure your hips then use both measurements to find your size on the chart.

*If you are very tall in height you might find the next size up a more comfortable fit.  If you are very short in height, size down.

*Bear in mind that height, thigh and bottom size will all effect the fit - it could take a few attempts to get the right size.

Who's Behind It?

Fat Lad At the Back was conceived when three 'large framed lads' including founder Richard Bye, rode to the Alps. After years of squeezing into ill-fitting and often unflattering kit, Bye decided to create a range of easy to wear, high quality garments using the best technical fabrics available.

Yorkshire-based Fat Lad At the Back ('F.L.A.B.'!) caters for cyclists who, like the founders, are fighting flab for a fitter body through cycling (their words, not ours!). Inundated by requests from female cyclists following the press and proven popularity of their male collection (including an impressive showing on the BBC's Dragons' Den), Fat Lad At the Back launched a women's specific range of plus-sized cycling clothing in response to the demand.

Launched in 2013 by Richard and his wife Lynn, Fat Lad At The Back and Fat Lass at the Back have gone from strength to strength. They design their garments in the UK and manufacture them primarily in Italy. Their focus on fit and quality is fast becoming legendary, with exceptional attention to detail in their tailoring.

  1. Great to find big sizes

Review by Lady Gresley (Posted on October 20, 2015)

I've been struggling to find anything to put my flab in until I discovered this FLAB gear! I think a got a size (or possibly 2!) too big, but couldn't find a pair in the next size down anywhere, so being desperate for them, I decided they'd be ok. I have to say I'm wondering if my pair are faulty, as the pad kind of doesn't come far enough up the back of my bum, so I'm not entirely sitting on the pad - or is this how they are? The pad doesn't seem too far forward, so maybe it's just how it is.
    Otherwise, well made and comfy.

VeloVixen Says: glad to hear the Pedal Pushers have come to your rescue, but sorry the fit isn't working 100%. The stock has been hard to get hold of, hence the shortage of certain sizes, but in truth we haven't had many (any?) fit issues previously, so our sense is that it may be down to the size. We're hoping to get more in before too long, so keep watching... x

  2. Good fit

Review by Ange (Posted on September 27, 2015)

I take a 20 or 22 trouser on the high street (and have 2 pairs of 22 I can't get into!) so was a bit unsure which size to order. I decided to go down a size, being only 5ft 3in and ordered the size 18/20. They fit perfectly. The padding is reasonable but I have only used them on rides of less than 1 hour.

I do find that I slip around a bit on the saddle due to the shiny material - I would have preferred a thicker, matt material such as Meryl which I have seen in other 3/4 shorts.

I love the waist - it stays put on the waist and you don't really feel it. I needed to tighten them slightly with the thin cord. Bit worried that it might suddenly disappear inside the waistband as there is not much spare.

They are quite long if you are only 5ft 3in - they come below my calf but as autumn beckons it is not such a problem.

I would love a pair of longs for the winter but only if they could offer different leg length. I once got into a size 16 longs by Altura but they were 12 inches too long for me!

  3. FLABulous!

Review by Jenny (Posted on August 27, 2015)

I've recently taken up cycling and have despaired at finding any cycling gear to fit my curves as most cycling brands seem to only go up to a size 14 - like really???!! However when I found Fat Lass At the Back I rejoiced! And then I rejoiced even more when my pedal pushers arrived - they fit brilliantly, are super comfy and have eased the bottom aches considerably!! Quite brilliant!

VeloVixen says: SO delighted to hear they're revolutionised things for you, Jenny. Keep on pedalling! And keep an eye open for new gear from them... we're pushing for it! x
