Bern's stylish urban helmets are becoming a familiar sight on city streets. The Bern Melrose gives equal access to the urban jungle and mountain bike trails.

Newly introduced in 2015, the Melrose is a premium women's helmet that straddles both camps - a sophisticated, practical and ultra-comfortable lid for town riding that's equally at home shredding trails far off road. Benefiting from a specially designed thinner, lighter, stronger ABS Shell and an adjustable sizing dial (meaning just two simple sizes to choose from). Crucially, its shell shape - with 16 separate vent holes - means you'll stay cooler for longer on those tough days in the saddle.

The original Bern patented flip visor helps keep sun and rain out of your eyes. Add to all this the Bern Melrose's striking teal, white and green combo, and you have an all season helmet you'll be proud to wear for riding in the city or well beyond.

To measure which size will work for you, simply wrap a measuring tape comfortably around your head at the level that a helmet rim would sit:

Small: 52-55cm

Medium: 56-59cm

Each size incorporates a neat sizing dial to fine tune sizing for your head.

Who's Behind It?

Bern was founded in 2004 by Dennis Leedom - a passionate cyclist, snowboarder and skier who was acutely aware of the need to protect his head. As a multi-sport fanatic, he launched Bern to create helmets that would not only provide more safety but also serve more than one discipline.

Since then, Bern has grown to become one of the most popular makers of cycling helmets in the world. Working with a specialist design team, the results have become iconic. Bern believe they’ve ‘driven the evolution of head protection’ and we’re inclined to agree. We love the lightweight results that meet rigorous safety standards whilst always exuding cycling style and sophistication.

Since 2014, Bern’s colourful helmets have come with a fully adjustable sizing mechanism, and their design team have created increasing numbers of products shaped specifically for women that incorporate their flip visor system. Go forth and protect your head stylishly with one of these lids!

  1. Fab, Fashionable functional

    Review by Ferret

great helmet, so light, sits really well, instead of the feeling of balancing a huge, ghastly, stupid-looking, great pointed object on your head !
Wish I had gone for the small size, but just couldn't wait and wore it immediately!
what a great site this is, as a very mature cyclist, who likes to ride a lot of miles (6,900) last year ! Great to find a reliable place to buy some really nice kit from
    Thank you

  2. Helmet fit

    Review by pip

It's a great helmet but I can't wear my cycling glasses with it as it comes down so low on the head it presses the glasses legs into my head and is really uncomfortable.

VeloVixen says: thanks for your comments, and sorry to hear it's not working well with your glasses. It does come down deliberately a little lower than some, but we've found that for other glasses it fits OK. That said, we also know of a number of people who tend to wear it without glasses, as road specific helmets lend themselves more naturally to glasses.
