A highlight of last week was the much anticipated gathering and social ride for me and the rest of the Anna’s Legs girls. Earlier in the year I applied to represent the brand after responding to an online advert inviting women cyclists to wear the leggings and promote the fun moments we have on bikes whilst wearing them!

I remember seeing the competition and thinking “I would LOVE that to be me” but instantly thought things like “you are too busy to even apply!” I’m SO glad that I did go back and find the time to enter because in doing so, not only was I chosen as one of three ladies to represent the brand, but I have genuinely been inspired by the other ladies I met through the process, which includes Anna the brand designer and owner.

I also had the exciting challenge of riding a road bike (which I had only done once before the day of our social ride!) Anna and her wonderful Mum organised for me, Di and Elle (the 3 brand reps) to meet in Chinley in the Peak District, where we embarked on a brilliantly chilled and friendly road ride of around 27 hilly miles taking in the absolute best the Peak District had to offer… purple heather, rolling hills, 360 degree views and valleys with quaint packhorse bridges over streams and waterfalls.

It really was perfect. I was way out of my comfort zone hopping onto ‘Cliff’ my steel framed road bike with the thinnest tyres I have ever experienced and handlebars that felt way too low (I should point I’m normally on a mountain bike!)

While riding we all had chance to chat and find out a bit more about one another and we laughed about busting stereotypes and feminist attitudes towards women in cycling, work, business and starting families! It really was a case of no topic being off limits and it was so refreshing and stress relieving for me. We finished the ride with beaming smiles and slightly aching from climbing the hills and bracing a long descent to finish on a chilly August afternoons.

Anna had thought of everything as we put the bikes away and were whisked off to a gorgeous country pub for a hearty meal in a rustic dining room with its own AGA (yes!!!!), while we each took it in turns to have an incredible sports massage which was truly brilliant.

The experience was wonderful, and it was so great to meet the rest of the girls in real life. We obviously took the opportunity to take some photos of us all together wearing Anna’s Legs leggings. They looked great all together… I love my versatile star print pair but I’m already chomping at the bit at the prospect of a new collection and new prints (I’m a total activewear shopaholic here!)

I am very thankful to Anna and her mum for looking after us all and lending me a bike and being such sweet wonderful people! I’m so glad I applied to be part of the brand, Anna deserves every success.
