Let's face it, the UK's not famous for blazing heat. When the mercury passes 20c we're prone to flapping about as though we're living in the Dubai desert. Fans and paddling pools sell out, and public fountains are gridlocked. But it can, and most years it does at some point...

Elle Linton is a fitness-instructor, blogger, health expert and business-woman. She was already known to VeloVixen, and her application stood out to me as well. I was intrigued by her busy lifestyle and the many strings to her bow. Is there a better feeling than spinning along the lanes feeling the warmth of the sun and breeze against your legs? For me, this brings back memories of childhood, long days spent playing down at the BMX track, always in shorts (I remember this well due to the amount of times my mother smothered my scraped knees with iodine).

In the spirit of challenging myself this year, I’ve decided to try my first long distance ride, cycling from Lands End to John O’ Groats. As someone who favours short, fast, intense racing such as criterium, I don’t regularly ride for longer than 90km.
