Female cyclists learning new tips to improve and enjoy their cycling more

If there's one thing we've learnt over the years, it's that nobody knows everything about cycling. But when you're first falling in love with cycling, it can sometimes all feel a bit daunting.

So if you're been cycling for a bit, we want to draw on your wisdom to help those who are earlier on their cycling journey!

Straight to Entry Form...

If you could turn the clock back, just what would you tell your younger cycling self?

What 'tricks of the trade' have come with cycling experience that you wish you'd known when you were first getting out on your bike? - at that point when the sheer exhilaration of it was everything, but the fine tuning hadn't yet begun...

We're looking for ideas about what kind of bike would be best for you, where to ride, what to wear, what to eat, what to drink, who to ride with, how far to go, how to find kindred cycling spirits, which style of cycling would suit you best, how to stay comfortable on your bike, how to avoid feeling low when it gets hard.

And anything else you think would help.

Plus the opposites of all these, of course - those vital 'don'ts' that we can all fall into unwittingly! Wearing knickers under cycling shorts and picking the most padded saddle you can find spring to mind...!

So come on, clever people, pour forth your advice!

We're hoping to build up a whole collection of top tips for beginner cyclists so that those feelings of befuddlement and - occasionally - anxiety can be consigned to the past.

After all, if there's one other thing we've learnt since starting VeloVixen back in 2012, it's that the women's cycling community is about as friendly, helpful and welcoming as any you'll find.

And to help stimulate your advisory glands into action, we'll be giving whoever's responsible for our favourite tip a pair of our famous padded cycling pants (shown above) of their choice!
