Café du Cycliste have rapidly built an amazing reputation for beautiful cycling clothing that also works fantastically on a bike. The women's Café du Cycliste Celine Shorts take the humble women's cycling short and - with simple angles and grey panels - create a truly stylish piece of kit which never stints on technical quality.
Made from durable four-way stretch fabric which maximises breathability, the Café du Cycliste Celine's back is cut a little higher than hip level for better stability. Crucially, the pad is made from multiple density foam, yet remains unfussy for the many women who prefer a more integrated pad rather than endless different panels.
Typically for Café du Cycliste, the Celine's attention to detail is exemplary - aside from their new take on a traditional style, there's reflective detailing and low profile laser cut leg grippers. In fact, you could say the whole package is a laser cut above the alternatives?!
Café du Cycliste's sizing is generally pretty realistic. As with many European makes, if you're torn between two sizes err towards the larger of the two. Bear in mind that the Celine is race cut, so like all cycling shorts is deliberately fitted.

André a former Ironman and Rémi a former canoeing World Champion are the founding duo behind Café du Cycliste. The pair started out opening a dreamy cycling community cafe in the Cote D’Azur, Nice and haven’t moved from that location since.
Soon after, André and Rémi launched what they deliberately describe as an ‘alternative cycling wear brand’. The essence of Café du Cycliste is to avoid the unsophisticated and garish. They combine the finest materials and latest technology with a retro twist, allowing you to perform to your best but look elegant and stylish in doing so.
Development, patterning, designing and testing all still take place on the inspirational Cote D’Azur, with only the actual manufacturing outsourced. We simply love their approach to both work and play, and their products consistently rank amongst the most sought after of any we stock.

Pad is in absolutely the wrong placeReview by Catriona Kennedy
I agree entirely with the above review. I cycle thousands of miles a year and these do not cover an area it is extremely important to cover, it is at least two inches too far back with zero pubic area coverage. I have also written to the manufacturer.
VeloVixen says: Thank you for your feedback Catriona. Cycling shorts can be notoriously tricky to tailor to all shapes, sometimes finding the right short for you falls on finding the right brand. This is why we're so passionate about continually growing our selection of brands (each one with different approaches to chamois design and their placements). Since this is the second time we have received feedback about the pad's position in the Celine Shorts, we will forward this feedback to the manufacturer once again. Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. x
Pad is in the wrong placeReview by LS
Bought these shorts because the pad looked as though it would be thick enough for a long day's ride. The shorts are great quality but sadly, the pad is too far back. No coverage for the pubic area but it extended much too far up the back. I am a small 12 and not a peculiar shape. I bought size large.
VeloVixen Says: sorry to hear they didn't quite work for you, LS. The cut and fit of cycling shorts can be very individual, and inevitably won't work for everyone. On the whole, we've had very few Celines returned, but that said you're not unique in not finding them quite right! We will pass on your comments to Cafe du Cycliste.
