At VeloVixen, we are keen to give something back. We are lucky to be doing a job we love, inspired by a trip that we loved. During our epic ride through the Americas, we were inspired by so much of what we saw. It made us more aware than ever of how many good causes there are. As a young company, we are focusing on fund-raising for causes close to our heart, and through activities that can inspire people to give generously.

So... in 2013, we are raising money for the William Wates Memorial Trust, a charity that exists to celebrate the life of William Wates. William was a much-loved young man who died tragically in South America when travelling after leaving school. He is very much missed by his family and friends. It was his family that set up the trust to celebrate his life.

This summer, our Co-Founder and Managing Director Phil rode the entire route of the Tour de France to raise money for the Trust. That's 3,479km, exactly one week ahead of the pros, with far more big mountains in the route than any sane person would choose. The Trust is a grants giving registered charity set up in 1998 with a mission to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence, and fulfill their potential. This is mainly achieved by supporting charities that engage young people through the mediums of sports, arts and education. The trustees personally choose and support the Trust's underlying projects, and each one is incredibly valuable. The aims of the trust reflect where William's interests would have been if he was alive today.
