Chantelle Matthews, Head Designer at Polaris, created the Vela range featuring these women's Race cycling shorts to suit all female riders, whether you're a leisurely weekend cyclist or a racer.
The Vela Race Short is designed by a team chock full of women, meaning the cut hugs and skims in all the right places, creating a stunning feminine fit that makes these exceptionally flattering.
The Vela Race Short has function too. The fast wicking, lightweight and breathable fabric works hard to keep you cool as you turn the pedals. The high performance Polaris Doctor Pad is a gel injection pad featuring robust shock absorption, making it recommended for rides up to 6 hours.
Whether you go for the full matching capsule Polaris Vela kit or mix these shorts with existing gear in your wardrobe, the sharp, flattering graphics with accents of colour offer a sporty, versatile look you should be proud to wear out on your bike.

Polaris are a UK based company that have been producing technical cycling clothing for over 20 years now. Under the watchful eye of founder Roger Dillon, they started off developing kit for mountain bikers in the '90s. With oodles of experience, Roger committed to diversifying into all areas of cycling and Polaris now has successful road, urban and trail ranges.
From their humble base in Derbyshire, Polaris has developed into a truly international brand, with their kit worn by cyclists worldwide. What makes Polaris stand out for VeloVixen is that we feel their design team truly understand the needs of female cyclists in terms of fit, function and design.
Chantelle Matthews, head designer and keen mountain biker, has developed the Polaris women's range in collaboration with a predominantly female design team. They take into account all of the different shapes and sizes, and work hard to ensure a considerate fit and contoured design, so every individual wearing Polaris gear looks and feels comfortable in the saddle.

Comfy to ride inReview by Sharon
I am 5 ft 2 and a small fits me well, a little too high in the waist (long in the body) but otherwise ok. The pad is good, I expect to spend 10 hours plus in the saddle so that is a feature I look for. The leg grippers are effective but not too tight.
In the end it's the feel while riding that counts!
For people with long legs!Review by Heather
I haven't ridden in these shorts yet so can't comment on the comfort of the seat but they are very long in the leg. I'm 5'4" but need an XL and they are just above my knees. I'm hoping the leg grippers will hold them up my leg a bit. This is not a good look on short fat people! The lycra is a nice weight, not see through like some shorts. They are also high in the waist which I don't mind as I find women's jerseys quite short. the seat is very low on the front, I would have preferred a bit more coverage. If you have long legs and are not curvy, you should be fine with these shorts.
