The goal when Castelli started work on the ROS Alpha Jacket was to create a winter jacket that is good as it can be for cold days. A jacket offering supreme comfort and breathability, a jacket that can adapt to changing temperatures and conditions. Additionally they wanted a jacket that if you did get caught in a heavy shower or the day turned for the worst, you would make it back home warm and mainly dry. A jacket designed for winter riders with you not having to take a cape out with you. As close to a one box solution as modern fabrics and technologies allow.

The Women's Alpha RoS Jacket takes the guesswork out of what to wear for any given type of weather. With the RoS (Rain or Shine) design the goal was to create a winter jacket that is as good as it can be for cold days but would offer protection should it rain, without the need to revert to another waterproof jacket layer. This was achieved through new fabrics that offer increased breathability but with improved waterproofness too, as well as clever design details that keep the water out yet provide ample breathability and ventilation.

The Rain or Shine system utilises Gore Windstopper 150 fabric for wind protection and the high breathability and effective protection required to ride in the rain. Castelli also incorporates their Alpha construction that separates the wind/water protection layer from the insulating layer leading to better control of ventilation and better moisture evaporation thanks to this separation. The result is a jacket unlike any other that allows you to ride from low-temperature conditions right through to wet and mild conditions.

Stretch fabrics with advanced patterning make for an excellent close-to-body fit that still accommodates a wide range of body types. A raw-edge waist that lies flat and moves with you plus Castelli silicone text gripper at waist keeps the jacket from riding up. 3 rear pockets with reflective laser-cut drain holes plus an extra pocket with waterproof zip make for a very practical jacket with plenty of storage space.

For those of you seeking the ultimate in versatile all-weather, multi-season protection you really need not look any further. Think of this as taking all your winter kit options and distilling it into one incredible do-it-all garment. We think you'll find it's worth every penny.

Please NOTE The Castelli ROS Jacket is not intended to replace a full shell jacket for prolonged heavy rain. Its a bit like the way a Gabba works (on warmer days) so for 90% of the time its all you will ever need this winter. And for nearly every cyclist that is enough.

Castelli Size Guide

Where Castelli once had a reputation for making gear that suited only very small Italian folk, the Castelli women's size scale is now very similar to 'normal' UK sizing.

That said, it is primarily designed with a snug fit in mind, so if you prefer more room or are between sizes, go up rather than down. If you are still unsure, feel free to contact us.

        Q. What do a 19th century Italian tailor, a designer for the Milan Ballet and the first ever lycra cycling shorts have in common?

        A. They are all part of a rich 140 year history that's led to today's most recognised brand in cycling: Castelli.

Throw in a heart attack on a famous Italian climb, family feuds, Olympic gold medals and controversy in the pro peloton and it begins to sound more like a Sicilian soap opera than the backdrop to a cycling brand. But then again Castelli is no ordinary brand.

Today, Castelli's scorpion emblem is arguably the single most recognised in cycling. Iconic is an overused word these days, but the Castelli brand surely qualifies.

We first discovered Castelli on our year long ride through the Americas in 2010, when our founder Liz (pictured) wore Castelli shorts and loved them, so stocking them seemed an obvious choice. But we're almost as captivated by the story behind the name as the kit itself!
