Why to buy: Castelli's Perfetto Vest is a mid-weight option that will give your core protection from cold winds and showers. The close aero fit ensures no wasted energy.

The consensus of the Castelli test crew is that this piece doesn't replace the Gabba or Perfetto but it's another arrow in your quiver that is ideally suited to variable temperatures, especially when it's cool and dry or there's a risk of light rain

Castelli started with the well known Gabba jacket and have finally developed this epic piece of kit. Castelli use Gore® Windstopper® X-Lite Plus on the front and shoulders of the

Perfetto Vest, giving reliable weather protection, keeping out wind and shrugging off showers. This is combined with Nano Flex Light on the back that also gives water repellency but is primarily used to provide a high level of breathability and enabling Castelli to achieve an extremely aero fit. While it's not as packable as their lighter vests, the Perfetto achieves a greater level of weather protection so is ideally suited to cooler and damper conditions.

The neck is cut high to seal out cold breezes and a full-length zipper, complete with rear storm flap, makes controlling ventilation quick and easy. 2 large rear pockets ensure you can hold everything you require. Lastly, the addition of reflective trim on the back adds extra visibility when light levels drop. If the weather does warm up it's compact enough to fit into a jersey pocket.

Whether worn as an outer layer on cool days, keeping off a chill on a descent or added as a mid-layer on cold days the Perfetto Vest offers impressive versatility for all your riding needs.

  • Gore® Windstopper® X-Lite Plus on front and shoulders provides lightweight wind protection

  • Nano Flex Light fabric on back protects from wheel spray

  • Packable construction

  • Full length YKK VIslon zipper with wind flap

  • 2 rear pockets

  • Reflective trim on the back for visibility

  • Suggested temperature range 8 - 22 degrees.

Castelli Size Guide

Where Castelli once had a reputation for making gear that suited only very small Italian folk, the Castelli women's size scale is now very similar to 'normal' UK sizing.

That said, it is primarily designed with a snug fit in mind, so if you prefer more room or are between sizes, go up rather than down. If you are still unsure, feel free to contact us.

        Q. What do a 19th century Italian tailor, a designer for the Milan Ballet and the first ever lycra cycling shorts have in common?

        A. They are all part of a rich 140 year history that's led to today's most recognised brand in cycling: Castelli.

Throw in a heart attack on a famous Italian climb, family feuds, Olympic gold medals and controversy in the pro peloton and it begins to sound more like a Sicilian soap opera than the backdrop to a cycling brand. But then again Castelli is no ordinary brand.

Today, Castelli's scorpion emblem is arguably the single most recognised in cycling. Iconic is an overused word these days, but the Castelli brand surely qualifies.

We first discovered Castelli on our year long ride through the Americas in 2010, when our founder Liz (pictured) wore Castelli shorts and loved them, so stocking them seemed an obvious choice. But we're almost as captivated by the story behind the name as the kit itself!
