Vulpine's flagship Alpine Jersey is a remarkable thing. The Vulpine team have poured their love and expertise into its creation and come up trumps. This is a first class cycling jersey fit for so much more than cycling.
The Vulpine Alpine Jersey is cut for serious riding in mind. The full length zip and deliberately longer back are designed with long rides in mind. It's made of the finest Tasmanian merino wool, which makes it virtually impossible to make smelly. It wicks away moisture naturally, and keeps you warm for cooler days or long descents, but will keep you cool and fresh on hotter outings or big climbs. A true miracle material.
But typical of Vulpine, it's not all about technical prowess - yes, the detailing of the angled triple pockets, the ingenious zip docking, flatlock stitching, anti-slip silicon waistband and v-stitched engraved buttons is remarkable. It's also about wearability - it's achingly stylish, and equally perfect for a serious ride, for your daily commute or for just wearing around town. And in this astral blue, you'll play the starring role on or off the bike.
Vulpine's Alpine Cycling Jersey is made of pure merino, meaning it curves and fits itself to you more flatteringly than many artficial materials. This is Vulpine's own recommendation for sizing:

Vulpine was founded by Nick & Emmalou Hussey at around the same time as VeloVixen. Coming from backgrounds in film & design, they put their life savings and house into creating the company.
They now have a little boy, Millar, and a daughter Lyra. They've had cycling genetically implanted into them. The team has grown significantly through less organic means too. Vulpine have quickly become one of the biggest and most ambitious names in cycling. Crucially, office Jack Russell Lily, remains in a position of responsibility.
They've put in years of painstaking design, research and testing to create stylish cycling apparel that you'll actually want to wear both for cycling and for when you get where you're going. They've have made sure that it is all cut for cycling, with a classic British tailored influence. They've chosen sophisticated colours that don't just mimic other products out there. They've added innovations that are practical without being dull. And visibility features that you can wear with pride.
Vulpine has been a dream for most of Nick's adult life. He fell in love with cycling as a child, quickly graduating to pretty serious road racing and time trialling. But the enjoyment of cycling in all its forms is absolutely key to all the Vulpine team members. They believe we are all Cyclists, but also people with lives off the bike as well as on. We look forward to working with them as their exponential growth and profile continues.

Beautiful jersey that needs a few little tweaks....Review by Laura (Posted on November 18, 2014)
This jersey is wonderfully soft, and the sizing is bang on and cut fantastically to accommodate a female figure. The fabric is 100% Merino - something you won't see on a Rapha jersey.
In terms of durability, the reflective tape on the rear is peeling off, despite me following their care instructions. I think this could be improved by the reflective tape being fabric, and stitched on. I also think the access to the zipped pocket is a little fiddly.
The structure of the garment suffers slightly when you've loaded up the rear pockets for long club rides. It starts to sag horribly and catches on the back of my saddle. It needs more structure around the pockets so it holds its shape better when fully loaded!
Overall though a nice jersey that performs well in hot temperatures as well as cold. It would be nice to see some bolder colours, like the fern green available to women.
VeloVixen Reply: thank you for the review. We have mentioned the reflective tape issue to Icebreaker and hope this will be reinforced. Re. the sagging, this is the one slight issue with 100% merino jerseys - the softness, comfort and wicking come about through no use of other fibres which might retain the shape. We tend to use 100% merino for only smallish loads in the pockets and put the rest in a saddle pouch - we feel that the lovely feel and cut of merino offsets any problems.
