The Castelli Alpha RoS Jersey is much much more than your typical cycling jersey. We would like to call it a jacksy! It ha the fit of a cycling jersey but with a double layer front (each with its own zip) Windstopper construction and taped seams this is pretty much a jacket in all but name. Talking of names what or who is ROS?

RoS stands for Rain or Shine it is a label Castelli have introduced for a line of premium products that offer the absolute best compromise for mixed weather. So a RoS piece might not be the most breathable piece we do - it might not be the most waterproof piece we do but it offers the best compromise of both. And let's face it, most days in the UK especially in spring and autumn we arent riding in heavy prolonged rain we are riding in damp misty weather or through showers or just against the wind. For these sort of conditions look out for RoS.

The Castelli Alpha RoS Jersey is a major step forward from last years Alpha Jersey, it features all new fabrics to greatly increase its water repellency with a reduction in seams and seam sealing where required to further enhance its resistance to rain. We also see new waterproof zippers, pocket drainage and cross wrap over under wrist closures. All this to create a garment we call functional waterproofing, it might not keep every drop of rain out but it will leave you as comfortable warm and dry as possible in more situations than any other garment.

So this jersey is for your more intense rides in wetter and changeable weather or for cool days of steady miles then the warmth, breathability and wet weather protection strike just the right balance to keep you dry and comfy all ride.

Who's Behind It?

Q. What do a 19th century Italian tailor, a designer for the Milan Ballet and the first ever lycra cycling shorts have in common?

A. They are all part of a rich 140 year history that's led to today's most recognised brand in cycling: Castelli.

Throw in a heart attack on a famous Italian climb, family feuds, Olympic gold medals and controversy in the pro peloton and it begins to sound more like a Sicilian soap opera than the backdrop to a cycling brand. But then again Castelli is no ordinary brand.

Today, Castelli's scorpion emblem is arguably the single most recognised in cycling. Iconic is an overused word these days, but the Castelli brand surely qualifies.

We first discovered Castelli on our year long ride through the Americas in 2010, when our founder Liz (pictured) wore Castelli shorts and loved them, so stocking them seemed an obvious choice. But we're almost as captivated by the story behind the name as the kit itself!
