Castelli Gabba 2 Jersey (Pale Blue)

Why to buy: This women's specific version of the pro's favourite features identical technicalities but with a few feminine tweaks thrown in. Its lightweight-ness and wind/rain resistance is second to none and yet the Gabba still manages to stay fully breathable too.

The Gabba, AKA the 'rain jersey' was the first of its kind, opening a whole new category in the ever-growing world of cycling. This is the third generation Gabba jersey, maintaining its original features of the classic winning formula, but with a few new improved tweaks for excellence.

Made from Gore Windstoppper X-Lite Plus, a lightweight fabric with superb wind protection. Finished off with water repellency, the Castelli Gabba Jersey will be the one you grab for when it looks a bit wild and unpredictable out there. Its breathable outer and inner shell keep the wind from getting inside and Windstopper technology makes it the ideal choice in cooler weather.

Nano Flex fabric inserts are used under the arms. Getting its thermal, fleecy and stretchy attributes from Thermoflex, you'll ride warm, with on-the-bike flexibility. Castelli have coated this with millions of tiny nano-filaments, creating the water repellent side to its brilliance. Balls of water will bounce off the jersey, leaving no trace - it might not withstand a hefty downpour, but will serve justice in a light shower and brutal winds.

Water will run off the Gabba storm flap at the back of the jersey, away from your cycling pants - because no one likes a soggy bottom. With the help of a silicone gripper to the waist, full length zipper to the front (with wind flap) and laser cut drain holes in the rear pockets, we think you're all set for Mother Nature's unpredicted.

Did you know? The Gabba has been given the Rosso Corsa stamp, which is only ever given to Castelli's highest-level products. Every curve, contour and fibre is obsessed about in great detail, so you can enjoy the ride with as little limitation as possible.

Who's Behind It?

Q. What do a 19th century Italian tailor, a designer for the Milan Ballet and the first ever lycra cycling shorts have in common?

A. They are all part of a rich 140 year history that's led to today's most recognised brand in cycling: Castelli.

Throw in a heart attack on a famous Italian climb, family feuds, Olympic gold medals and controversy in the pro peloton and it begins to sound more like a Sicilian soap opera than the backdrop to a cycling brand. But then again Castelli is no ordinary brand.

Today, Castelli's scorpion emblem is arguably the single most recognised in cycling. Iconic is an overused word these days, but the Castelli brand surely qualifies.

We first discovered Castelli on our year long ride through the Americas in 2010, when our founder Liz (pictured) wore Castelli shorts and loved them, so stocking them seemed an obvious choice. But we're almost as captivated by the story behind the name as the kit itself! 1. Class Short Sleeve Cycle Jersey

    Review by Sharpie

This is really classy. The fit is perfect for me and it protected me from the chilly wind on the club ride this weekend. A practical addition to my autumn cycle wardrobe. It looks so smart and was commented on favourably by all on Sunday. The pockets are deep and roomy.
